Best Destined Rivals Chase Cards and Current Values

Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 231/182 is the Destined Rivals chase card. Its recent raw sales sit around £259, nearly twice Cynthia's Garchomp ex 232/182 in second. The set is deep at the top: five cards sell for over £45 raw.

Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 231/182

The card of the set. Iwamoto05 shows Mewtwo standing in front of Giovanni, washed in deep red. Team Rocket's return was the story of Destined Rivals, and this card is its headline.

Four raw sales on 17 October ran from £257 to £281. Four is a small sample, so we show the full range rather than trimming it. Over 17,500 copies have a PSA 10, the deepest graded supply of any card in this guide, and a PSA 10 has a median of about £806, about three times a raw copy.

Cynthia's Garchomp ex 232/182

The rival's card. HICO KIM draws Cynthia beside Garchomp in a dusky, windswept scene. Five raw sales ran from £126 to £200, with a middle of about £135. A PSA 10 has a median of about £341.

Ethan's Ho-Oh ex 230/182

Bright, and the widest range in the top ten. Atsushi Furusawa's Ho-Oh blazes across a blue sky above Ethan. Only four raw sales came through on 16 October, from £62 to £207, with a middle near £94. A range that wide on four sales says little on its own. Compare several more listings before you settle on a figure.

The Team Rocket cards

• Team Rocket's Nidoking ex 233/182 by Uninori is drawn in a rough, comic book style. It sells for £51 to £61 raw.
• Team Rocket's Moltres ex 229/182 by AKIRA EGAWA is all fire and red. It sells for £47 to £60 raw.
• Team Rocket's Crobat ex 234/182 by cochi8i swoops through purple night. It sells for £28 to £47 raw.
• Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 240/182 is the gold Hyper Rare of the top card. It sells for £32 to £41 raw, about a seventh of the special illustration rare.

Misty's Psyduck 193/182

The illustration rare that punches above its rarity. OKACHEKE puts Misty and Psyduck underwater together. Raw copies sell for £30 to £41, but a PSA 10 has a median of about £247, around six times as much, and more than the PSA 10 Ho-Oh.

That gap says buyers want a near perfect copy. It does not mean grading one will pay: fees, postage and the chance of a 9 all come off the top. Our UK grading guide sets out those costs.

How we priced these cards

We read the most recent raw eBay completed sales for each card, up to ten, from CardTrack's sold-sales ledger, which covers the UK, US and other eBay sites. With six or more sales we drop the single highest and lowest, then quote the range of the rest. Mewtwo ex 231, Garchomp ex 232, Ho-Oh ex 230 and Moltres ex 229 each had fewer than six recent sales, so their ranges are untrimmed. Dollars are converted at £0.7499 (16 October 2026).

PSA 10 figures are the median of PSA 10 completed sales, shown only where at least 500 copies hold that grade. The full method is in our guide on how to value Pokémon cards.

Collector notes

• Two versions of the big cards. Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex and Cynthia's Garchomp ex each have a special illustration rare and a gold Hyper Rare. The special illustration rare costs several times more in both cases.
• Graded supply is deep. Five of the top ten have over 7,500 PSA 10 copies. A slab is easy to find, so compare several sales before paying above the median.
• The Team Rocket cards make a set of their own. Nidoking, Moltres and Crobat together cost a little over half the Mewtwo ex 231 at recent raw sales, about £146 against £259.
