Best Pokémon 151 Chase Cards and Current Values

Charizard ex 199/165 is the Pokémon 151 chase card, and it is nearly three times the next one. Raw copies have been selling for £217 to £251, against a middle of £85 for the second card, Blastoise ex 200/165. The final forms of the three starters fill the top three places.

Charizard ex 199/165

The card the set is built around. miki kudo draws Charizard ex in flight above a canyon, with a volcano glowing below and a pale sun behind, all in purple and orange. It is a calm scene for the loudest Pokémon in the set.

Six raw sales on 17 October ran from £206 to £280. We drop the highest and lowest, so the middle four sat between £217 and £251, with a median of £243.

Graded copies are plentiful. Nearly 29,000 have a PSA 10, so a 10 is not scarce. PSA 10 sales have a median of about £1,050, a little over four times a raw copy.

Blastoise ex 200/165

Second by a wide margin. Mitsuhiro Arita puts Blastoise ex underwater, in blue light with bubbles rising past its shell. Seven raw sales on 16 October gave a middle of £85, and the trimmed range was £75 to £97.

A PSA 10 has a median of about £420, close to five times a raw copy, and over 19,000 copies hold that grade.

Venusaur ex 198/165

The most colourful of the three. Yoriyuki Ikegami packs Venusaur ex into a thicket of bright flowers and leaves, with a pink bloom on its back. Only four raw sales on 16 October were available, so we quote about £75 rather than a range. They ran from £68 to £104.

With so few sales, treat the figure as a guide. PSA 10 sales have a median of about £319.

Squirtle 170/165

The best-priced card that is not an ex. Mitsuhiro Arita draws a smiling Squirtle in the surf, with pale sand behind. Squirtle is an Illustration Rare, yet its median of £64 is above Charmander and Zapdos ex.

Treat the range with care. Seven raw sales on 16 October ran from £45 to £375, and two of them, about £364 and £375, sat far above the other five, which fell between £45 and £80. That is why the table gives the median, the better guide here, instead of a range.

Charmander 168/165, the grading outlier

Raw, Charmander 168/165 sells for £49 to £66. A PSA 10 has a median of about £439, roughly eight times its raw median of £55. Pikachu 173/165 and Charmeleon 169/165 sit at about the same multiple.

That gap tells you where the value sits: a clean, well-centred Charmander is worth far more than an average one. It does not tell you that grading one will pay. Fees, postage both ways and the chance of a 9 rather than a 10 all come off the top. Our UK grading guide walks through those costs.

• Zapdos ex 202/165 by Shiburingaru shows Zapdos against a stormy sky with two other birds behind it, and sells for £56 to £60 raw.
• Pikachu 173/165 by Hiroyuki Yamamoto is a street scene with Pikachu running across a crossing among trainers and other Pokémon. It sells for about £49, from five sales.
• Charmeleon 169/165 by miki kudo sells for about £44, from five sales.
• Alakazam ex 201/165 by Shinya Komatsu sets Alakazam in a cluttered study, and sells for £41 to £46 raw.
• Bulbasaur 166/165 by Yoriyuki Ikegami sells for £41 to £45 raw, the least of the ten.

How we priced these cards

We read the most recent raw eBay completed sales for each card, up to ten, from CardTrack's sold-sales ledger, which covers the UK, US and other eBay sites. With six or more sales we drop the single highest and lowest, then quote the range of the rest. With four or five sales we quote the middle figure and say how many sales it rests on. Dollars are converted at £0.7499 (16 October 2026).

A card marked not ranked, or left out, is one with fewer than four matched sales in our ledger for the window. That is a limit of the matched data, not a sign that the card changes hands rarely: a popular card can fall below four matched sales in a short window, and it is ranked as soon as the data supports it.

PSA 10 figures are the median of PSA 10 completed sales, shown only where at least 500 copies hold that grade. The population figures are PSA's own counts as recorded in the ledger. The full method is in our guide on how to value Pokémon cards.

• One illustrator draws the Charmander line. miki kudo is behind Charizard ex 199, Charmander 168 and Charmeleon 169, all in the top ten.
• The other starters are paired too. Mitsuhiro Arita draws Blastoise ex 200 and Squirtle 170, and Yoriyuki Ikegami draws Venusaur ex 198 and Bulbasaur 166.
