Decks are the playable end of the sealed range. A Battle Deck is a ready-to-play 60-card deck with a coin, damage counters and a playmat sheet, built around one Pokémon and meant for a first game. A League Battle Deck is a stronger version built from cards that have done well in competition. A Build & Battle box holds four booster packs and a 40-card starter kit with a promo, designed for pre-release events where you build a deck from what you open. Older sets had theme decks, which served the same purpose as today's Battle Decks.

Decks suit someone who wants to play rather than collect, or a parent buying a first deck for a child. They are not the product for pulling rare cards; the packs in a Build & Battle box are standard packs, and a Battle Deck contains no packs at all.
