Best One Piece Decks
The current starter decks compared by style, Bandai's recommended decks by Leader, and the deck-building rules for your own list.

The best One Piece decks to start with are Bandai's Starter Decks, each a ready-to-play 51-card deck built around one Leader, and the best one for you depends on whether you want to attack, control the game or sit in between. Bandai describes a Starter Deck as a set with everything you need to play under the official rules. The details below come from its English product pages, read on 2 November 2026.
What comes in a Starter Deck
Each Starter Deck below holds a constructed deck of 51 cards, which is the Leader plus the 50-card deck, along with 10 DON!! cards and a playsheet. What else is in the box depends on the product.
| Product | Also in the box |
|---|---|
| Starter Deck ST-31 to ST-36 | 1 OP-16 booster pack |
| Starter Deck ST-29, ST-30 and ST-22 | A bonus pack of 3 cards (14, 17 and 14 types in total) |
| Starter Deck EX ST-21 GEAR5 | A bonus pack of 3 cards (15 types) and 70 sleeves |
Bandai calls the Starter Deck EX an upgraded option next to the standard decks. Its pages say the cards can be used in official tournaments, and for the newest products they start 7 days after launch in your region.
The six July 2026 starter decks
Bandai released ST-31 to ST-36 together on 31 July 2026. Each product page opens with a one-line description of the deck, quoted below in Bandai's words, and that line is the quickest way to choose.
| Deck | Colour | Bandai's description | Our grouping |
|---|---|---|---|
| ST-31 Red Monkey.D.Luffy | Red | "A fast-paced mono-red aggro deck"; the Leader attaches rested DON!! cards to Characters | Attack |
| ST-32 Green Roronoa Zoro | Green | "A high-speed mono-green battle-focused deck"; Slash-type Characters, and the Leader gives consecutive attacks | Attack |
| ST-33 Blue Kuzan | Blue | "A mono-blue control deck"; the Leader turns discarding into drawing | Control |
| ST-34 Purple Charlotte Katakuri | Purple | "A mono-purple future-sight control deck"; the Leader checks the top card of the opponent's deck | Control |
| ST-35 Red/Black Sabo | Red and black | "A red-black midrange combat deck"; the Leader powers up all your Characters | Midrange |
| ST-36 Yellow Eustass"Captain"Kid | Yellow | "A midrange deck that excels in both offense and defense"; the Leader makes any Character a quick Blocker | Midrange |
If you want to learn by attacking, start with ST-31 or ST-32. If you prefer a slower game where you answer your opponent, ST-33 or ST-34 fit better. Midrange sits between the two, and ST-35 and ST-36 are the picks if you do not yet know. Bandai's own words are aggro for ST-31, control for ST-33 and ST-34, and midrange for ST-35 and ST-36. It calls ST-32 battle-focused, and putting it with the attack decks is our grouping. None of this comes from tournament play.

Best decks right now: Bandai's Recommended Decks
Bandai also keeps a Recommended Decks page, with a one-line pitch for each Leader and a deck list to open. It gives no win rates, so read it as Bandai's suggestions and not a ranking. Its newest decks were added on 28 August 2026 with the OP-17 set.

These decks are built from booster cards, so treat them as a next step after a Starter Deck. Our guide to the best One Piece cards covers the banned list to check first.
Upgrading a Starter Deck
Bandai has paired starter decks with booster packs before. Its Recommended Decks page of 3 October 2025 gives the Shanks, Jewelry Bonney, Buggy, Monkey.D.Luffy, Marshall.D.Teach and Yamato decks the same line: power up your Starter Deck with Premium Boosters. Bandai's PRB-02 page adds that every pack in that Premium Booster holds a Super Rare card or better.
The packs inside ST-31 to ST-36 are OP-16 The Time of Battle, so that set is the natural next one to open for those decks. Bandai lists many other boosters you can add to a deck in the same way.
How to build a One Piece deck
The Comprehensive Rules fix the shape of every deck. You need one Leader card, a deck of exactly 50 cards and a DON!! deck of 10. The deck holds Character, Event and Stage cards only, each card must share a colour with your Leader, and you may include no more than 4 cards with the same card number.
- Pick a Leader and read its effect, because the deck exists to use it.
- Choose cards in the Leader's colours that work with that effect.
- Fill the deck to exactly 50 cards, with no more than 4 of any card number.
- Check each card against the banned list.
- Play it, then swap the cards that did not help.
Bandai's own advice is to add booster cards to a Starter Deck to strengthen it. Starting from a Starter Deck and swapping a few cards in the same colours is the simplest way into deck building. If you are new to the rules, read how to play One Piece Card Game first. Our One Piece starter decks page lists the decks we sell.
